Adding a Species

Species in Arbimon

If you have an idea of which species will be in your recordings, or which species you will be looking to detect, you should add those species into the project before you begin analysis. You can also add species after you have begun annotating spectrograms or running jobs, using the same steps. Species added to the project will appear in this page, along with templates for that species (from the project and Public Template Library).

How to Add a Species

1. Go to the project menu and click Explore, then Species.

2. Click New Species.

3. Type the scientific name into the search bar. Choose the species and select a call type from the drop-down menu, then Click Select.

4. The species will now be shown in your species list. When you add a new species to your project, you will be able to see if there are any existing templates for that species in the Public Template Library. The three most recently added templates will be shown in the ‘Public Templates’ column.

Once you start adding project templates of the species, those will appear in the ‘Project Templates’ column.

Tip: You can add a generic species name by typing 'unknown' in the search box and selecting one of the sp_ options (sp1, sp2, sp3, etc.).
